Vysehrad I.S.D. held the Historical Marker Dedication on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Margie Kocian welcomed everyone to the 120th year (1887-2007) celebration. The Vysehrad Cheerleaders raised the flags, followed by the Texas and United States pledges. Everyone was invited to sing as Superintendent Paul Darilek rendered the Star Spangled Banner on trumpet. Superintendent Darilek then recognized the guests present: Margaret Kallus, Tax-Assessor Collector; Charles Netardus, County Commissioner; School Board Members; J.C. Hermes, former Superintendent; Holly Heinsohn Kropp and Margie Kocian as researchers of the history for the marker; as well as the oldest and youngest students present and teachers and employees in attendance.
Doug Kubicek, guest speaker, then gave a very informative speech on how the process is done to obtain the historical marker. This marker is the 100th for Lavaca County and Vysehrad I.S.D. is one of the three rural schools still in the county. Holly Heinsohn Kropp followed with a short reading of the history of Vysehrad School and a list of donors was read by Margie Kocian.
