Vysehrad, a word which means “High Castle” in the Czechoslovakian language is the name for the small rural school found in Lavaca County, Texas. The Vysehrad school, established in 1887, is situated on part of the Francis Smith League, located on County Road 182 about four miles west of Hallettsville, Texas on the old Shiner road and about a mile and half north of Worthing, Texas. The Vysehrad School has remained in the same location since the school was founded. To teach drug awareness and discourage the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, Vysehrad School participates in "Red Ribbon Week" which will be held October 27th-31th. We will have all kinds of fun activities and dress up days to get the children excited and involved in this worthwhile program. Each child will receive a red drug free bracelet to wear to school each day. Prizes will be awarded daily for participation in the dress up activities and for wearing the red bracelet. SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: Our Scholastic Book Fair is scheduled for November 3rd through the 7th and will be located in the gym. We invite you to our school to share in this celebration of books and reading. Not only does this event help raise funds to purchase essential classroom and library resources, it encourages reading among our students.
