School History

Vysehrad, a word which means “High Castle” in the Czechoslovakian language is the name for the small rural school found in Lavaca County, Texas.  The Vysehrad school, established in 1887, is situated on part of the Francis Smith League, located on County Road 182 about four miles west of Hallettsville, Texas on the old Shiner road and about a mile and half north of Worthing, Texas.  The Vysehrad School has remained in the same location since the school was founded.  The number of students enrolled in the Vysehrad School has fluctuated over the years; some years seeing an enrollment close to 100 students. . . . read more


We are doing a fundraiser this school year to defray the cost of the school annual given to each student. Our school receives 40% of the sales. RADA products consist of cutlery, quick mixes, cookbooks, stoneware and candles and make great wedding, birthday, Christmas, shower, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc. gifts. Contact any Vysehrad student, staff member or the school if interested. A catalog and order form was sent home with your child(ren) September 28th. Deadline for orders is October 23, 2015. read more

Red Ribbon Week

To teach drug awareness and discourage the use of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, Vysehrad School participates in "Red Ribbon Week" which will be held October 26-30. We will have all kinds of fun activities and dress up days to get the children excited and involved in this worthwhile program. Each child will receive a red drug free bracelet to wear to school each day. Prizes will be awarded daily for participation in the dress up activities and for wearing the red bracelet.
